American Medical Computing, Inc. was founded in Lyndhurst, Ohio in 1991 by John S. Ely, Jr. During his years of service with the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association and United Way, as well as his own personal experience, not only were patients being given the run -around when it came to claim submissions and reimbursements, but so were the practitioners. He saw how electronic claims submission could put an end to this. After a year of research, he opened the doors of American Medical Computing, Inc. AMC, Inc. now has accounts ranging from physical therapy to mental health, podiatry to skilled nursing facilities.

Joyce Hillick Ely, Vice President, also founded the company in 1991, and handles all administrative functions of the company including personnel, finance, operations and marketing. She brings a wealth of experience in health issues as an executive in the social service sector.

Cathy Peterca, Account Manager, has been with the company for four years. She specializes in Physical therapy billing and is an expert in ICD-9 and CPT coding. She is proficient in analysis of insurance benefits, insurance payment analysis and patient billing procedures. Cathy handles all customer assistance on her accounts and works directly with all offices on compliance issues.
